Studio Policies

General Studio Rules:

  • Students are expected to be kind to their classmates and En L’air staff. Dance class should be a fun and welcoming environment for all!

  • Students are expected to be ready for their classes. Please arrive dressed (according to the dress code) and with your hair ready. Parents of younger students should use the time before class to allow the dancers to use the restroom in order to limit trips during class time.

  • If you know that you are going to be even a few minutes late, please text or call. Please enter and join the class quietly.

  • No gum, food, or drinks other than water are allowed in the studio. If your child brings any drink other than water (Gatorade, juice, flavored water) they will not be permitted to drink it.

  • Please do not allow your child to bring toys or games to class. They are a distraction and will be confiscated until the end of class.

  • No cell phones are to be out of the dancers’ bags during class time. If they become a distraction during class and break times, they will be confiscated until the end of class.

  • Parents are not allowed to stay in the studio during classes. It causes a distraction for all the children in the class. During the last five minutes, however, parents may come and watch. Please refrain from talking to your child or talking on your phone during this time or you will be asked to wait outside or in the hallway.

  • Please make every effort to be prompt in picking up your child. If you know that you are going to be late please notify the studio director.

  • Students will be allowed in the studio ten minutes before their scheduled class time. Please refrain from dropping your child off before without prior notification to the teacher.

Tuition Payments:

Tuition is paid in monthly installments, and the price is based on hours of instruction, payments are due on the 1st of the month and are considered late after the 10th. There is a $10.00 late fee. Students who have not paid their tuition in full by the time of the recital will NOT be allowed to dance.

If there is an underlying financial circumstance in which you cannot pay your tuition in full, please don’t hesitate to communicate with me. I will be more than willing to negotiate a payment plan system for extenuating circumstances.

You may pay your tuition in cash, online payment, or check made payable to En L’air Academy of Dance and Acrobatics LLC. If paying in check please include a detailed memo (ex: Tuition, shoes, private lessons, etc.).

There is a $35.00 returned check fee.

Recital Fees:

There is an $90.00 recital fee that will apply to the end of the year performance. Families with more than one dancer enrolled will pay one recital fee. Tickets will no longer be sold for recital. This fee will cover end-of-year trophy/medal cost, and unlimited audience members for the performance.

Costume Deposit:

You will be required to pay a $55/class costume deposit. This deposit will go towards the total cost of costumes for the recital, and will cover the majority of the costs. Costume deposits are due by October 1st, and any remaining balances will be due by February 1st.

Refunds:

No financial adjustments will be given for missed classes. Tuition is based on a monthly rate and will not be discounted for absences. Registration Fees and Costume Deposits are non-refundable.

Make-Up Classes:

Make-up classes will be offered if a regularly scheduled class is canceled by the teacher for reasons other than weather (illness, other commitments, etc.). If your child misses a class for any reason, there will be NO make-up classes offered. If you feel that your child needs a make-up class because of an absence, private lessons are offered for $30/hour. Please make attendance a priority!

Attendance:

Students who miss more than FOUR classes in the course of the semester will not be permitted to dance in the recital. If an injury or illness results in more than five absences, a doctor’s note(s) will be requested to excuse the absences.

Class Placement:

Students are placed in their class levels at the teacher’s discretion. Placement is not based on age, but rather on ability. Dancers can be moved up or down a level at the start of, or in extreme circumstances during, the dance season. Please do not be discouraged if your child is not moved up a level when you were expecting to be. It is important to spend enough time at each level to ensure the dancer’s understanding of class fundamentals. Moving a dancer up too soon will hurt them much more than it will help them.

Conferences & Concerns:

If you have any concerns about your child and their dance class, please feel free to text or call at any time to discuss them. If you feel it to be necessary, we can schedule a conference to discuss them as well. Any of my concerns about your child’s behavior will also be voiced to you as soon as the issue arises. If you haven’t heard anything from me, your child is most likely doing great!

Inclement Weather:

During the winter months, En L’air Academy of Dance and Acrobatics follows the cancellation policy of Salem City School Systems.

  • 1 or 2-hour delay: En L’air classes in session

  • Schools closed: En L’air closed

  • Schools released early due to weather: En L’air closed

In the rare case of the weather getting considerably worse between the time school lets out and the time classes start, you will be informed about class cancellations. These cancellations will be posted via Website, Facebook, Instagram, Email.

If you have concerns about driving to classes, please text or call to inform the instructor that you will not be attending class.

When schools are closed for inclement weather it is beyond the control of En L'air. No make-up classes will be offered.

Dress Code:

Proper dance attire not only helps the dancers move more freely, but it also allows the instructor to see the dancers’ bodies clearly and allows for alignment corrections. This in turn protects dancers from injuries! Please try to have the required attire for each class within three weeks of classes starting.

Suggested sites for attire: discountdance.com, justforkix.com
